📋 Product Description

Rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available, the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on shoulder, both of which are used for the fixing of elastic rail clips.

The casting shoulders as the embedded part of the railway fastening system are pressed in concrete sleeper and work together with the E clip to fasten the rail. The cast-in shoulder is made by casting from iron, following international standards such as GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563, ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502, KS D 4302, GOST 7293, or BS EN 1563.

Types of Rail Shoulders

The rail shoulder is a semi-embedded part cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clip to the base plate. There are two common types available:

  • Cast-in Shoulder: Used primarily in pre-stressed concrete ties.
  • Weld-on Shoulder: Used at typical positions where the shoulder is welded on flat steel plates or sleepers.
🔥 Weld-on Rail Shoulder

The weld-on shoulder is used at specific positions of the rail where it is welded onto a flat steel plate rather than a standard tie plate. These are produced using hot forging methods and fabricated according to AREA standards. The material used is typically low or medium carbon steel.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the main function of a rail shoulder?
The primary function of a rail shoulder is to be embedded in or welded to a sleeper to provide a secure anchoring point for elastic rail clips, which in turn hold the rail firmly in place.
2. What materials are used for cast-in rail shoulders?
Cast-in shoulders are typically made from ductile iron, such as QT400-15, QT450-10, or QT500-7, ensuring high tensile strength and durability.
3. When should I use a weld-on shoulder instead of a cast-in one?
Weld-on shoulders are used when the rail geometry requires a custom fixation on flat steel plates or steel sleepers, often in switches and crossing layouts where standard concrete ties are not used.
4. Which rail types are compatible with these shoulders?
Our shoulders are compatible with a wide range of rails, including UIC54, UIC60, 115RE, 50kg, 60kg, BS80lbs, and BS100lbs.
5. Do the shoulders meet international quality standards?
Yes, they are manufactured to comply with international standards including ISO9001, GB/T 1348, DIN 1693, and BS EN 1563.
6. Can the mechanical properties be customized?
Yes, the chemical composition and mechanical properties can be adjusted during the casting or forging process to meet specific project requirements and load conditions.
