Product Overview
Three-dimensional (3D) printing, also known as 'Additive Manufacturing' (AM), of titanium orthopaedic implants has revolutionized the treatment of massive bone defects in the pelvis due to their ability to be customized with complex shapes, size and surface geometries. It is more complicated to achieve with conventional manufacturing (i.e., non-3D printing) methods, such as drop forging and machining, which are commonly used to produce orthopaedic implants. In terms of manufacturing, 3D printing enables complex porous structures with specifically designed pores shapes to be produced, unlike conventional technologies, where the control over the final architecture of the porous backside coating is limited.
Titanium Orthopaedic Implant
Key Features
  • Forged titanium alloy material: flexibility provides natural stress transmission and tissue strength
  • Adjustable anteversion angle: can meet various anatomical forms of femur
  • Hybrid fixation: proximal fixation, distal handle
  • Longitudinal ridges: can be inserted into cancellous bone to improve anti-rotation stability
  • Sleeve triangle design: improves anti-rotation stability; converts shearing force into compressive stress
  • Proximal sealing: prevents potential wear debris from entering the medullary cavity
  • Tapered design: allows the sleeve to be effectively taper locked with the handle body
